Tom Jonard's 4-1/4"
f/10.5 telescope
Here's my long 4" setup for solar
viewing via projection during the Mercury transit of November 15,
1999. This is a 60's vintage Edmund "Palomar Jr." that I've refurbished
several times. The tube (which is aluminum), primary and cell, secondary
and mount and focuser are original. The 6X finder is a replacement.
The 0X finder is a modified Tasco gun sight. The rings holding the
OTA are over-sized to allow tube rotation. The mount is a standard
Polaris mount with Right Ascension drive. The projection system is
my own.
